Dr. Ivo Martiník, Ph.D. was graduated from the Masaryk University in Brno (Czech Republic), Faculty of Science, in 1986 and in 2000 he successfully passed his doctoral studies at the Faculty of Economics, VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava. He is currently working at the position of the head of the Laboratory of Information Technologies at the Faculty of Economics, VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava.
In the present time he also lectures for the Department of Applied Informatics at the Faculty of Economics, VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava, in the areas of parallel and distributed programming systems and modern programming languages.
He is also interesting in the areas of Petri nets and their applications, computer networks, category theory.
He is also the founder of the MERLINGO project (MEdia-rich Repository of LearnING Objects - www.merlingo.cz). The main goal of the MERLINGO project is to set up and manage the national central repository of learning object based on the rich-media content/technologies accessible on-line and on-demand within the CESNET2 (Czech Education and Scientific NETwork).
He is the member of the IEEE and COMMON (The Power Systems User Group) and the certified expert of Sun Microsystems in the area of the Java programming language (SCJP, SCWCD a SCBCD certifications).
