A+E Networks EMEA launches FAST channels in the UK & Ireland with Titan OS

A+E Networks EMEA has partnered with Titan OS S.L. (Titan OS), the Barcelona-based advertising, technology, and entertainment company with branches in Amsterdam and Taipei. This agreement will launch five FAST channels in the UK and Ireland.

In the UK and Ireland, Titan OS powers Philips smart TVs, and thanks to its partnership with British electrical retailer Currys, it will soon be introduced on JVC devices. This will allow new audiences access to the full range of content from A+E Networks EMEA.

Titan OS was co-founded by ex-Rakuten TV CEO and Wuaki.tv and Love TV Channels co-founder Jacinto Roca, as an “independent European operating system for smart TVs.” According to Digital TV Europe, the company’s initial focus will be on the European and Latin American markets this year before rolling out more widely in 2025.

Roca told Digital TV Europe, “We will licence our OS to brands that do not have their own OS, which is about 40% of the market.” He said that Titan would operate a revenue-share model from advertising with participating TV brands. “The main difference between us and global OS players is that we will share the business with the TV brand. This gives them the chance to generate their own revenue stream over and beyond their hardware margin. Our other main difference is that we are European-focused.”

Within Europe, FAST is still emerging compared to its booming status in the US. But as Ed Laczynski wrote recently in Forbes, “With countries such as Germany, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Sweden currently operating well behind their potential for growth, it also means a great opportunity for content owners and licensors. In Europe, diverse cultures mean diverse preferences in sports, news, and content types in terms of language and genre. FAST's abundant capacity allows for multiple channels and brands catering to these varied preferences.”

According to their website, A+E Networks EMEA reaches audiences in over 100 countries, including the UK, Nordics, Benelux, Central & Eastern Europe, Spain, Italy, Germany, Africa and the Middle East, and it also partners with platforms such as Sky, Vodafone, Amazon, Pluto, YouTube, and TikTok.

The five UK and Ireland A+E Networks EMEA channels are Inside Crime, Mystery TV, World War TV, History Hunters, and Deal Masters. This launch “strengthens Titan OS' premium and local content proposition and expands the range of entertainment across categories such as history, mystery, factual entertainment and true crime to cater to all tastes and make content discovery easier,” according to the press release from Titan OS.

“A+E Networks EMEA's decision to launch its channels on Titan OS is a big step forward for our continued growth,” stated Judith Diaz, Content Partnerships Director at Titan OS. “As a European company, we understand the importance of offering localised content that resonates with all audiences. These five new channels add even more variety to Titan OS' portfolio of premium and brand-safe content that will be a great addition for both viewers and advertisers.”

Julie Mitchelmore, VP of product and commercial partnerships and regional director for MENA at A+E Networks, says, “We’re thrilled to partner with Titan OS to launch our exciting FAST portfolio of channels. Viewers will now have access to our amazing library of content, featuring captivating history, true crime, mystery, and world war stories. This collaboration offers fresh ways to enjoy our best factual entertainment.”
