Brightcove: Big in Japan?
When The Nikkei Online Edition, a new newspaper site owned by Nikkei Inc., goes live March 23, it will feature video fueled by Brightcove. The Japanese media giant is standardizing all online video operations with cloud-based video platform Brightcove. The new site will include advertising-supported video and will offer features for sharing and embedding videos on other sites and social networks.
According to Brightcove, Nikkei will be able to control and streamline its video workflow with a single, integrated solution. Since Brightcove works with major advertising networks, Nikkei will be able to increase monetization opportunities across all of its online properties.
Nikkei is one of Japan's largest media companies, and publishes the country's top business daily newspaper, The Nikkei.Brightcove is teaming up with J-Stream, a major Japanese content delivery network, to support streaming services across all of Nikkei's online sites.
"Nikkei has been at the forefront of the media industry in Japan and around the world for more than one hundred years," said Jeremy Allaire, Brightcove chairman and chief executive officer. "The addition of Nikkei is a testament to (Brightcove's) continued leadership and innovation in the online video industry."
