Cleeng Takes €1.1 Million in Series A, Plans U.S. Expansion
Premium video monetization company Cleeng announced that it has taken €1.1 million in a series A funding round led by Pascal Cagni, the general manager and vice president of Apple EMEIA from 2002 to 2012. The company didn't announce other contributors to the round, but noted that it has taken €1.5 million to date in total funding.
Cleeng will use the money to further its growth in the United States, where it already does significant business. It also plans to scale its technology for greater demand. Cleeng helps publishers monetize their premium live pay-per-view online video events. Its technology can currently process hundreds of thousands of transactions per hour.
Based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Cleeng has worked with FIFA/Sportmax TV, Cirque du Soleil, and Dailymotion.
"After a successful pivot toward video e-commerce, this investment will give us the means to solidify our market leadership," says Gilles Domartini, Cleeng founder and CEO. "We have attracted and retained top clients, and leading video platforms now recommend Cleeng for their PPV and VOD projects. With more than half of our business in the U.S., it is time to accelarate our sales development and unleash our revenue potential internationally. We are thrilled by the trust shown by our investors and we will remain focused on delivering the ambitious scaling plan."
