Vizrt and Vimond Partner on Complete OTT Solution
In a marriage made in Scandinavia, Virzt and Vimond Media Solutions (both based in Bergen, Norway) announced that they're partnering on an OTT (over-the-top) solution for media companies. The result is a combined workflow that encompasses both broadcast and TV Everywhere delivery.
Vimond is contributing its OTT TV technology, which lets broadcasters control their online assets while maintaining a presence on multiple platforms. Vimond's OTT technology includes an automated workflow and is able to stream video in a variety of formats.
Added to that is Vizrt's content management platform, Vizrt Online Suite. In the suite, content creators can edit graphics and maps, and access any of their stored videos (thanks to the company's media asset management system). Graphics are either burned in or are added to the video while it's streaming. Finished videos are transcoded into multiple formats. Assets are then transferred to the Vimond video player for distribution.
The solution is targeted to journalists, who can merge graphics with their reports and then distribute them. Håvard Myklebust, Vizrt's senior vice president for products and marketing, says that the combined offering is a "comprehensive journalistic tool."
Both companies will show off the combined solution at the upcoming NAB conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. Vizrt will be in booth SL3305, while Vimond will be in booth SL10310.
