Netflix Announces 2015 Rollouts in Portugal, Italy, and Spain
Netflix is expanding in Europe. The subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) leader announced last week that it will begin offering service in Portugal, Italy, and Spain in October 2015. Netflix has not yet announced pricing for each country.
Netflix says it will offer subtitles and dubbing in Italy and Spain, and subtitles alone in Portugal.
In its announcements, Netflix promoted the availability of its original series, which include Marvel's Daredevil, Sense8, Bloodline, Grace and Frankie, Unbrakeable Kimmy Schmidt, and Marco Polo. Original series coming later this year include Narcos (about drug kingpin Pablo Escobar), Club de Cuervos (a comedy about family disagreements after the death of a football team owner), and Marvel's Jessica Jones (the second of Netflix's comic book adaptations). Netflix will also soon debut its first original films, including Beasts of No Nation and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend.

Earlier this year, Netflix was busy expanding into the Far East, with moves in Japan and China. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings called his company's interest in China "a modest investment." The SVOD service currently operates in over 50 countries, and plans to offer service in 200 by the end of 2016.
