Viaccess-Orca Creates Cloud-Based TVE-as-a-Service Solution
The Paris-based content protection and delivery specialist Viaccess-Orca has launched Voyage, its TV Everywhere-as-a-Service (TVaaS) cloud-based offering. The idea is to help operators create TV Everywhere (TVE) and over-the-top (OTT) products in a short amount of time. Voyage runs on Amazon Web Services' cloud infrastructure, and integrates with Akamai and AWS CloudFront CDNs. Customers have the option of linking to other CDNs, as well.
With Voyage, Viaccess-Orca aims to create an end-to-end solution for TVE and OTT services, handling content transcoding, preparation, encryption, publishing, recommendations, and delivery. It also includes a variety of monetization options.
Operators can create solutions that distribute to set-top boxes, tablets, phones, and other connected devices. Voyage offers content security with Microsoft PlayReady, Widevine, and the company's own proprietary DRM.
Advantages of using Voyage include reduced capex, better stability, and the ability to quickly meet changing marketplace demands, says Paul Molinier, CEO of Viaccess-Orca. He calls Voyage the most complete cloud-based TV service on the market.
Viaccess-Orca is currently offering free trials of Voyage for pay TV operators and content providers. The trial lets customers use the management console, create iOS apps, use 50GB of storage, stream 20 hours of video, and setup 10 subscribers on 20 devices.
