Review: Quick.TV
The layers can be turned on or off instantly by hitting that layer’s button or deleted by dragging to the application’s bin, and should you wish to alter information, any change made to the video here will be automatically duplicated to all versions of the same video you have syndicated using the software.
Figure 3. Among the features in the Tools interface is Tag, which allows you to add hot spots to videos. This is because each video has an embed code, automatically generated on upload, which tracks usage. Like other video host providers, the embed code is there for you to copy and paste into any website or blog, and you can make it available to anyone else to add to their site too. Unlike other sites, the code also provides automatic measurement of the usage of each layer over 24-hour, 7-day, and 30-day periods. For example, you can instantly see how many people have clicked through from the brand logo on the video to the company’s website in a given period as well as the number of views the video has received. Analysis of these metrics might lead you to revisit certain CTAs and either remove or fine-tune them to deliver increased response rates.
Another upcoming feature is Goals, said to be similar to Google Analytics, in which a user can put a marker within the video that records every time a viewer passes that spot. Tracking those numbers can help a company understand how many times a core message has been viewed.
Channels and Publishing
When you are happy with the video itself, you can apply a new skin to the video player in Player Settings by changing colour, adding text descriptors, or doctoring other parameters as before. If you want the viewer to be able to select HD or SD or full screen, those options are available too.
Selecting channels allows you to group and display related videos (hotel and travel tours, sports highlights, or music promos, for example) into a video wall. By dragging thumbnails into the player, a single player is split into four or nine separate videos. Labels can be added to each.
Track syndication allows users to discover where their videos have been shared, and in future upgrades they will be able to drill down in analytics for each domain—for instance, finding out how many views a certain video has had on a specific website and, more importantly, comparing engagement. Exact details on this are withheld until release.
