Sky Offers Mobile Enhancements for Apple iPad Owners
Sky has released an update to its Apple iPad app that delivers significant new features to Sky+ customers. iPad owners can now use their tablets to change channels, pause video, and play or rewind content. The app also lets them manage their Sky+ planners by adding or deleting recordings stored on their Sky+HD set-top boxes.
The overhauled app gives a new look to the program guide. It now includes genre tabs that let customers zero in on a particular type of content. Search and navigation elements were improved to make the process of looking for shows and moves more intuitive.
Earlier this year, Sky launched a new Sky TV Guide, which works with the Sky+HD set-top box. To use all the new features of the redesigned iPad app, customers need to have this new look Sky Guide on their set-top box, and to have both their iPad and set-top box connected to the internet using the same Wi-Fi network.
"We're now taking the Sky+ experience one step further, handing our customers even more control over their planner -- not to mention being able to use the app to change channel and play, pause, and rewind their favorite TV," says Luke Bradley Jones, Sky's brand director for TV products.
