Accedo and TVNZ Transform the Video Experience for Kiwi Kids

Auckland, New Zealand(08 Jun 2018)

Accedo (https://www.accedo.tv), the video experience pioneer, has worked with New Zealand broadcaster, TVNZ and its partner NZ On Air to create and deliver a new, ad-free online platform for children.

The platform, HEIHEI features children’s programming made in New Zealand, including content in te reo M?ori and featuring local children and actors. Created for children between 5 and 12 years of age, the video service includes a range of program genres, games and competitions, and has been designed to create an easy, safe, and fun experience.

Using the Accedo One video experience platform, TVNZ has been able to quickly and simply develop and deploy the HEHEI video service across iOS, Android mobile and tablet and web, with the ability to readily extend to more platforms in the future. Content management is also handled by Accedo One™, making it simple to select and edit what content is displayed and when.

Chris McNair, Regional Director of Australia and New Zealand at Accedo commented: “There is a distinct lack of locally-produced children’s content in New Zealand. With HEIHEI, TVNZ is giving children access to relevant and diverse content that is made by Kiwis, for Kiwis. Having some of that content in M?ori language is particularly important to help preserve local heritage.”

David Malpas, General Manager - Product, TVNZ, added: “HEIHEI is a digital platform that celebrates Kiwi kids and their own unique stories. We know it’s important for children to see their own accents and experiences reflected in the content they’re consuming. We also know we have to move with our digitally-savvy young viewers and bring them the local programmes they love on the various devices they want to watch them on. Accedo has enabled us to deliver HEIHEI to more platforms, faster and simpler, and that’s a win for our audiences.”

HEIHEI officially launched on 26th May and has had a positive response from consumers so far, with 5/5 rating on the App Store.

Accedo will be exhibiting at BroadcastAsia from 26th– 28th June on stand 4B2-01, showing demonstrations of its latest innovations for AR, VR, AI, and voice and its portfolio of products and solutions. Meetings can be arranged online here.
