JW Player, the leading independent video technology company, today announced it has hired Marc Irwin as Head of APAC to lead its new Singapore office serving the APAC region.
Mr. Irwin brings many years of executive-level experience leading media, advertising, and technology companies into the APAC region. Previously, he led Outbrain’s supply-side expansion into Asia and most recently served as head of APAC expansion for Adyoulike, a native advertising platform and is charged with building JW Player’s APAC operations.
“We’re seeing tremendous growth in video content, consumption and advertising across the world, and the Asia-Pacific region is no exception. We look forward to becoming a true partner for companies around the region by leveraging our proven and flexible video technology platform,” said Dave Otten, Co-Founder & CEO of JW Player. “We’re thrilled to bring Marc onboard to lead this effort, better serve our growing client base, and look forward to expanding our reach across the Asia-Pacific region.”
The addition of the Singapore office will look to provide even more specialized support for the over 100 APAC media companies and brands that already trust JW Player for their video technology needs. With this increased focus and in-region team, the company will also look to accelerate its growth across the region.
Driven by mobile consumption, media companies across the region are rapidly expanding their video production and JW Player is positioned to help them make the most out of their growing inventory with the industry’s fastest player and most seamless advertising integrations.
"Customers like The Star Malaysia have recognised the importance of controlling their own content distribution, user experience, and monetisation,” added Stephan Rioux, Global Chief Revenue Officer of JW Player.
JW Player’s expansion to Singapore comes on the heels of tremendous success with its European expansion, which completed their first full years after launching in the middle of 2017. The EMEA region has seen 178% year over year growth with the addition of world-class clients such as Schibstead, Sonoma, Alma, and Eurosport.
“I’m thrilled to join JW Player, the world’s leading company for digital video monetisation. With purpose-built solutions such as OTT, built in recommendations, and contextual article matching, JW Player continues to push the boundaries for digital video,” stated Marc Irwin, Head of APAC.
The Singapore office is the company’s third international office alongside London and Eindhoven.
