Vizrt Social TV Solution integrates with Applicaster to offer an easy workflow between on-air graphics and Second Screen applications

Second Screen and Companion Apps are becoming a new standard medium for broadcasters to drive ratings and engage viewers in the broadcast.

Amsterdam—IBC 2013(06 Sep 2013)

Applicaster, provider of a robust broadcast platform for delivering multi-screen experiences, and Vizrt have partnered to offer a seamless workflow to synchronize user inputs and integrate user participation into the main broadcast.

At IBC 2013, Vizrt and Applicaster will demonstrate second screen engagement with the Vizrt Social TV solution in Vizrt’s IBC booth 7.A10.

Applicaster engages viewers with variety of entertainment layers that turn them into active participants and consumers. Applicaster’s platform includes features which retrieve user feedback, then, by integrating with the Vizrt Social TV Solution, sends the feedback to the control room for on-air use.

Integrating Applicaster’s user input based features with the Vizrt Social TV Solution enables an easy workflow for broadcasters - they are now able to automate and complete the cross platform connection between second screen applications and the main TV screen.

Mobile application users may answer any quiz/poll/trivia game and participate in a variety of games and activities, while the real-time results of all users are rendered on-air using Viz Engine. As soon as users interact with their companion apps, broadcasters are able to harvest any inputs from their second screen applications and simultaneously trigger and visualize the results on-air.

“As broadcast workflows evolve to match the rise in multi-screen viewing adoption, this integrated solution offers an experience which increases viewer attention to the TV and the second screen simultaneously”, said Liron Deutsch, VP Corporate Development, Applicaster. “Enriching TV content and shows with user feedback in real time, creates a new type of content and increases viewer engagement and involvement”.
