Witbe introduces its new “Video On-the Go” Robot, enabling mobile operators to map out the Quality of Experience of their mobile networks: a nomad technology augmenting drive-test lab vans with true video quality KPIs

Barcelona, Spain(26 Feb 2018)

Witbe, the leader in Quality of Experience Monitoring is proud to announce the launch of its next major innovation for its first Mobile World Congress: the new On-The-Go Robot, dedicated to the monitoring of videos played on mobile devices, as well as its new Mobility Report. This enables operators to truly control the quality of their networks. Installed in a lab van, this Robot controls a mobile device connected to the operator’s mobile network and performs video testing. The KPIs measured “on the go” by the Robot then allow operators to map out the true quality of experience of their mobile networks. With this innovation, Witbe takes one step further in the mobile technology industry, enabling its customers to improve their mobile networks and ensuring they deliver the best experience possible to their end-users.

After last year’s launch of the Mobile App Robots with Witbe Suite 6.0, which enabled customers to test and monitor their mobile video services, this brand-new Monitoring On-The-Go Robot is taking drive-tests to another level. Witbe has overcome the challenges of conducting automated testing on the road, with a Robot that features:

  • resistance to a van’s vibrations, thanks to a robot that has no moving parts;
  • a versatile power source, that ranges from 12V to 220V; and
  • asynchronous data transfer, which enables robots to perform tests and collect KPIs on the go, despite erratic network connectivity, and delivers the results as soon as the connection is restored.
Conducting Quality of Service (QoS) road tests is not enough for operators to fully understand where they need to invest in their mobile network. They need powerful technology to make the most of the collected data. And for this, Witbe has also developed the Mobility Report, a new type of reporting interface. It features a full screen heat-map, pinpointing the network’s strengths and weaknesses, by displaying quality of experience KPIs. The Mobility Report highlights geographic areas where the network shows a good QoS and yet a bad viewing experience for customers, featuring Witbe unique Video MOS. By zooming in, operators get the full detailed measurement, and now have all the keys to truly improve the perceived quality of their mobile networks.

Marie-Véronique Lacaze, President and CEO of Witbe, said: “We are thrilled to unveil the technologies of our new Monitoring On-The-Go use case at MWC 2018 Barcelona. Our Mobile Video Robots are a big success amongst our customers, but it was really important for us to listen to our clients’ feedback and do more. Thanks to our newest set of technologies, operators will get a unique understanding of how videos apps and streams perform within their network, to deliver the best Quality of Experience possible to their end-users. If you are at the trade show, our teams will be pleased to show you a demo of our technologies on our booth CS72”.
